>>Our encouragements

Whereas we attempt to be a family church encouraging all ages, we particularly pray that we will all seek to be growing in the Spirit. Some of our meetings ebb and flow and on this page we record some of the recent encouragements. Our Thursday afternoon meeting is a point of encouragement at the moment as new folk come along and the Jack-in-the-box which meets on our premises are undoubted successes and many of the leaders have strong links with our church.

On an individual level we thought you would like to read a brief testimony of just one of our church folk and encourage you to click on each month as a different person will record their encouragements:

Lois Ford - one of our Young People writes -
"Having arrived at Broadwater Baptist at the age of 14 (the wonderful teenage years!), I've had first hand experience of how much the people here really support and encourage young people, not only in their faith but in every day life too. The church seems to be really focused on getting young people involved and encouraging them to use their creative talents. Church band
Young people have always been encouraged to join in the music side of our worship and there are quite a few of us who regularly play in the band. The younger ones have even composed worship songs of their own; including one entitled 'chicken balti!' Another big event for the young people is the "Variety show" where anyone can get involved in anything!
I personally found this encouragement to get involved really important because I think sometimes when I was younger and attended another church; I felt that I couldn't contribute to the church in anyway. That I wasn't big enough or clever enough or spiritual enough to get involved, but the encouragement from the people in the 'BBC' helped me to get involved (even if it wasn't necessarily in the 'spiritual' side of things), and made me feel like I was really a part of the church.

The church supports young people in all kinds of things, but especially in mission. When I decided to take my gap year with BMS World Mission, it was quite a scary commitment! However I needn't have worried because the church was brilliant in supporting me. Everybody was so enthusiastic and excited about what I was doing and got stuck into fundraising to help me raise the £3,200 that I needed. They helped organize all sorts of things like concerts, car washes, bring and buy sales and loads more. I was also encouraged by the cards, emails and letters that I received before I went and whilst I was away, which meant so much to me and helped me when things got tough. Not only that, but perhaps more importantly, they really got behind me in prayer. I know that without their support I would never have raised the money to go and without their prayers, life would have been a lot harder.
